Captain Andrew’s passion for fishing began in Scotland, inspired by his grandfather’s stories of hard-fighting salmon. Leaving a successful corporate career to dedicate himself to the waters of Vancouver Island, Andrew refined his guiding expertise in Haida Gwaii, spending three seasons as a resident guide at the world-renowned Langara Fishing Lodge.
With 10,000 guided hours on the Pacific North West, he successfully challenged the elite CTAG certification. Today, as the owner of King Tide, his mission is simple: deliver first-class, professionally guided experiences with an unwavering commitment to safety and five-star hospitality. Whether hunting trophy Chinook or guiding a four-year-old’s first catch, his energy is felt the moment you step aboard.

West Coast VeteranShane's lifelong passion began on the Rideau River in Ottawa, guiding friends by age 10. His journey eventually led him to the legendary salmon and halibut waters of Rivers Inlet, BC, where he honed his craft at elite destinations like Rivers Inlet Sportsman’s Club and Duncanby Lodge.
Bringing over a decade of experience as a long-range sport fishing captain, Shane possesses an unmatched technical understanding of deep-water tactics and vessel handling in Pacific swell. For Shane, fishing is about the full adventure—the connection with the ocean and the pure joy of sharing a three-decade-long thrill with his guests.

Technical SpecialistBorn and raised in Sooke, Cam has been passionately fishing this local saltwater fishery for decades. Coming from a long line of professional guides and fishing TV personalities, reading the Juan de Fuca Strait is in his blood.
Cam’s specialty is hunting "MEGAs" (trophy Chinook salmon) in tight to the coast with frozen bait, or tracking migrating giants deeper than most captains are willing to drop. When he isn’t guiding trips, you can find him drifting Vancouver Island's rivers in search of chrome winter-run steelhead.

Captain Steve grew up in the East Kootenay region, fly fishing mountain lakes before his father introduced him to the saltwater giants of Haida Gwaii. Hooked instantly, Steve spent the next four summers guiding in the unforgiving waters of northern BC.
When he isn’t on the deck fishing deep in the kelp beds for Chinook or jigging for Halibut, Steve is a high school English teacher in Victoria. This background makes him an exceptionally patient instructor on the water, ensuring guests of all skill levels feel confident and capable. If there’s too much swell to fish, you'll find him surfing the coast of Vancouver Island.

Having cut his teeth working the docks at premier lodges, Cedric was hand-selected to join the King Tide fleet for his dedication to the sport. He specializes in high-intensity, nimble coastal pursuits, offering a fast-paced and highly personalized fishing experience.

Are your captains certified and insured?
Yes. Every King Tide captain holds Transport Canada Marine Certifications, Marine First Aid, and operates fully insured, commercially registered vessels that meet or exceed all federal safety requirements.
Is the crew good with kids and beginners?
Absolutely. We pride ourselves on being educators. We love introducing new anglers and families to the sport with patience and hands-on instruction.
Can I request a specific captain?
Yes — you can request a preferred captain during booking. Assignments are based on availability, group size, and trip type.
